Southern Attorneys

Southern attorneys are a different breed. I know, you see, because I have worked for Northern and Southern attorneys, through high school, college and early adulthood. Now, in my late-late 40's, I have been involved in a lawsuit that has spanned almost two years and met many more of these so-called "law-ers." They are a special group, extremely bright and quick-witted, their profession demands it. At each other's throats one moment, talking over the steam at a low-country boil at one of their opponents the next. It is all part of the strategy - win or lose, they all stick together, because let's face it - most of the population have a love-hate relationship with these folks. They stick together to survive! You love them if you win your case, you hate them if the other guy wins his against you! But they all try, or most do to do their very best for you, unless you tick them off, that is. Then, let's say they throw you to the wolves, the other attorney, the Judge, the witnesses, the lack of documentation, oh well! You deserve it, they say. So - be careful how you treat those who are your only advocate in front of THE Judge. Remember, the Judge sees many of them as colleagues, day in and day out every Thursday in Court. These law'ers will be there l-o-n-g after your manilla folder is stapled, shut and marked "closed." Your name will be among many in the dusty archives in the attic. BUT, the results of what happened in that Courtroom or on that man/woman's desk, will remain with you for the REST of your pea-pickin days. Southern attorneys are the best, though, IF you live in the South - they get it done, or get er' done, slowly but surely, mostly slowly. Out of respect for their dumb clients, of course, who slowly drain their bank accounts dry to pay for their own errors or the hardship someone else has brought upon them. You need them, though, they are there for that purpose and they DO deserve to make a living, just like the rest of us. So pay them their fair share, and they will usually beat the tar out of their opponents to make sure you get yours.
